    Meritorious service or achievement in either combat or noncombat situations

  7. Joint Meritorious Unit Award

    Awarded to joint units or units tasked to perform a joint mission

    Being taken prisoner and held captive while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States

  9. National Defense Service Medal

    Military service during a time designated by the Secretary of Defense
